Just want to thank LG for supporting a forum such as this. I have my first LG phone, a Wave with Alltel, so far I am very pleased with the phone. The only thing is, I wish there was a way to disable the Celltop feature Alltel puts on it. I would rather be able to use the left softkey to access my shortcuts and apparently you can't do that as the left softkey accesses Celltop. Thanks again.

I am not sure about changing the soft keys yet (it is possible with other phones but i just don't have that much experience hacking the Wave). What i can tell you is on almost all LG phones you have the option of assigning functions to the Navigation keys. Also you might consider calling alltel and having them dissable your Celltop feature if you are worried about getting charged for accidental use. I'll look deeper into changing the wave's soft keys for you. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply. No I'm not worried about the charges and I found how to disable it updating automaticly, now I have to hit the refresh button before it tries to up date. It is just that the avalible cells ar not what I'm interested in and ones that are free such as the "call log" is slower to load than if I just hit OK and go to recent calls.
What I use most are the calendar and calculator and with the left softkey activating cell top the only to get to them, even if you have them listed in my shortcuts is to go through the tools menu or OK 9-1-2.
Thanks again.

Do you mean instructions for how to add games? or do you want LG to put games on the firmware so you have them with the next update? because i don't think LG has that power. The carriers would have through a fit.

I think you guys are missing the point of this request thread. This is for requests for the forum (functionality/topics/etc) and not for technical questions. I have one, I'd like to see some sort of PM system in place.

I really want the see the feature that lets you change the tone used for SMS alerts.

Hi i just got the new LG Glimmer and i love the phone but can you guys please work something out with that ascending ringtone? I have way too many missed calls and missed text messages from where i cant hear it. It eventually gets a little loud but for example text message sounds are cut short and by the time it reaches full loudness, the phone has already stopped ringing.

I sent these as a PM message but I read that the PM messages are going nowhere so I am posting here. 1. I had a hard time to say the least finding this forum. I stumbled on it by mistake and when I tried to findi it again I couldn't for two days. It does not come up on Google no matter what the search string. Also the LG site does not listed directly anywhere. It shows up obscurely inside the MyPhone section depending on where you go in it. I think LG should make this forum more prominent under the support menu. Also tell your web techs to send your forum links out to the different search engines so it can be found by someone looking for support. 2. Posts on different phone models are scattered through out the forum. I think it would be much easier and cleaner to have a subfolder under the carrier for each model they sell so that the posts can be directed to the model number. 3. As pointed out before your top 5 links do not work.

I think point #2 is kind of a mixed idea. If people would just post in the correct forum, we wouldn't need specialized per-phone sub-forums. It's hard to get exposure that way, and sometimes concepts are the same across all phones.

PM = Private message. At the time I requested that feature, there was no way to communicate directly and privately to another member. Now there is a way to do it.

Two issues that I would like to bring up, here:
First, I can't open this forum on my phone. The formatting is all messed up, and I can't even hit the login button. I'm doing this on a Voyager. Try for yourself on a Voyager, or even a Dare and see what happens. Nothing good. Many times, I have more time to respond to posts and such when I'm in line at the bank, the DMV, in the doctor's office, etc. I'd love to be able to check up on things remotely. The very best way to go about this would be with a WAP frontend so that users without HTML browser phones could participate, also.
Secondly, the survey popup is really annoying. There's no information as to what my results will be used for, and a picture of an XBox which seems strange, that LG would be giving away Microsoft hardware. Regardless, the popup doesn't behave like a normal one, and so most popup software doesn't want to block it. It loads slowly (where is that picture hosted?), and it doesn't go away, even after I relented and filled out the survey.

Hi Steve, The survey results are being used for what every survey is used for...to gather information about the participants. LG would like to have an idea of the demographic of the people checking out the forum. I'm not sure why it's so strange for LG to be giving away Microsoft hardware.... As far as the popup - I'm sorry it's annoying. However, since it's annoying, that's good! You're seeing it and it apparently did it's job by getting you to fill out the survey. I'm sure I won't hear any complaints when/if you win the Microsoft hardware - that's the strange part if you ask me
Anyway, you bring up some good valuable points - as you always do. I will see what the issue is with the forum not being mobile friendly. Thanks for your participation and good luck in the drawing!!

Thanks for the response. I don't think I'll mind at all if I win, either. I just like to complain.

Hey all. I'm fairly new to these forums, but I've been a loyal LG fan for several years. IMHO they tend to 'just get it' better than most cell phone manufacturers. That said, I have found one aspect of my newest device (the Dare) that really bugs me and seems a disappointing oversight of the developers. They've given us tactile feedback (awesome) but it's non-specific (wha?). You get feedback as long as you touch the screen. Unless I'm thinking incorrectly here, that makes the feedback virtually useless. I'm pretty sure I'll know when I hit the screen with a finger. What I need to know is when I hit a 'clickable' button or key. The non specific feedback makes texting a good deal more difficult than I think it would be if we knew when we were hitting keys/buttons. Am I missing something? Is there someplace to change a setting that I just haven't discovered yet? Or is this possibly in a future revision of the software for the phone? Or worse, are there no plans to modify this aspect? I love the device, but this specific issue already seems quite frustrating and I've only had the phone for a few days.

Whoops. Sorry guys. I didn't notice that this was for suggestions for this _community_ - when I read the first post, I thought that LGPP meant "suggestions for LG". Ops - please feel free to remove my previous post. (Or just point fingers and laugh.

I would love to get the purple Lotus from Sprint! please, please, several of us want it! Thank you

Sorry, I meant to say I would love to get the purple Lotus at Verizon. Right now it looks like only Sprint has it. We like Verizon and do not want to switch carriers. What do you think? Thanks
[from Sky] -

I think that you should never change carriers to get a handset. Phone technology will only continue to get better, and what seems like your dream phone today, might not be when you have to deal with Sprint's CS. Verizon has a policy about not activating handsets that they don't sell, but that may change in the future. Thing is, I'd rather have decent handset with an amazing company.. than an interesting or even great handset with a so-so company.

I think the form factor of the LG Lotus is a breakthrough with hand held data devices. It's the most practical design to come along in years! The form factor is perfect, but I think there is room for other variations using this form factor. I would like to see a version of this phone that uses Windows Mobile that uses the thumb navigation pad as a mouse pointer. The center of the pad could work as a touch pad, while still allowing it to function as a directional button (up, down, left, right) and if pressed down, it works the same as the ok button. The software could be designed so that when you brush your thumb over the mouse pad fast, it scrolls long menus at a fast rate of speed. I would also like to see any phone with new processors that utilize core technology, so you can have dual core or even quad core mobile phone processors to run more demanding software platforms without sacrificing power consumption or the size of the device. Next gen Lotus could utilize a multi nav system using a touch mouse, touch screen or old school direction thumb pad.

I would like to be able to edit my previous posts (fis my bad typing & spelling). Also would like to delete my post/reply if it has no replies. Private Messages need to be private forums for each user. The current PM system send email with users email instead of LC Community Forums-no reply email address. The email should include a like to the user's private forum message thread. Users should be able to manage (delete) threads form their private forum. Posts should be actively managed. Posts/threads should be moved to appropriate locations and the user sent a message with a link to the new location. As the forum grows if threads aren't managed find info will be impossable. Consider eliminating/consolidating some topics. Forums with too many choices make it difficult for users to determin apropriate posting locations. Although if poeple would just read before they post, most of these suggestions would be unnecessary (just look at the mess at the beginning of this thread).

"discuss suggestions and requests for LG Community." When do you done typing in this box ... and you hit Tab ... it should go to the Submit button, not to the Privacy Statement. This way ... you Tab then hit Enter which makes the Submit. I'm so used to doing this in other forums that I do it here. Unfortunately, if you hit Tab then Enter ... it takes you to the Pirvacy Statement page ... and completely wipes out your text here. mx

How do I obtain a USB cord for my LG L X 225 cell phone from Working Assets?

"LG would like to have an idea of the demographic of the people checking out the forum" Right. However, with all due respect ... I would like to see LG address ... for example, several of the valid, confirmed real issues that have been identified with (for example) with the enV Touch, by myself as well as several others (the T9 issue for example) here in the forum. One of my favorites is ... the 'alert' (time in advance of the actual event) for any calendar event occurs approximately 24 hrs in advance of the event - no matter what you set for the alert time, which basically renders this function useless. So, through the KV04 software update (the 3rd I update I believe) ... nothing has changed. This seems a bit odd. Also, it appears that LGPP is the only representative from LG (?). Obviously this person cannot respond to ALL posts, however ... on the other hand (respectfully) ... there seem to be minimal responses with with information regarding some of the major issues. And I'm only speaking relative to the enV Touch. So ... whereas I'm sure LG would like to gather more demographics for marketing, it's time to ramp up solving some of the issues raised here in the forum. mx

Let me zero down on the EnV Touch. I am finding a way to streamline some processes and get the information you need quicker.

About the new LX 290 phone. Really nic e number pad, sleek looking, slides with a twist of a thumb...it even talks to me when I have messages. It's got a good size screen, but the text and numbers are way too small. The display is adjustable, but the tiny print display can only be made SMALLER! (You're right, this makes no sense). And the signal strength (a critically important meter on every cell phone in the world) is microscopic! This is a serious design flaw. There's plenty of display space, so why is everything (including nunbers display) so small? And it's not my eyesight. Everyone I that's seen it pretty much say the same thing ,"Why is it so small?" I'd like to keep this phone. Please fix this software to display correctly.

Upgrade the Rumor 2 software to support videos for this sweet screen, at least comparable to the original Rumor, preferably supporting MP4.
