I originally had some issues with my battery that were since resolved, but I'm now also having USB cable issues. I've also seen similar problems on the forums here where people report slow charging (or even discharging) issues while plugged in. In my case, my phone spends at least 90% of its time in a cradle with the cable hanging straight down with no kinks or abnormal bends in it. Yet as I've said in some of the other posts on here, I'm lucky to get a month out of a cable. It seems the wires loose the solder connection to the back side of the micro-USB plug. The usual chain of events are the phone will become slow to charge on anything (wall, car, or USB charging), then eventually start loosing power even though it's plugged in, then it will start to loose the connection completely and not even register. About this time, the data side will start to loose connection too when trying to transfer files to a computer. I've tried numerous brands of cables, both from cell stores and aftermarket. I've tried both data/charging cables, and charging only cables (these won't register on a computer for data transfers).I'm also currently trying a dedicated car charger that hard wires the micro-USB plug to the lighter plug transformer, meaning I can't even connect it to a wall charger or computer. In every case, whenI buy a new plug for charging, things go back to normal.
So I guess my question is if anyone knows of a cable that is actually durable? Spending $10-20 a month on cables really sucks.

Which LG Phone do you have? It looks you have posted in both the Sprint and T-Mobile forums...

This is interesting, and I'm sorry about what you are seeing... I have been using the cables that I have here for at least a year and I'm switching phones all the time, I'm not sure why this would be happening for you... What is the model number of the LG Cables that you have been using? The Model number should be on a white tag at one end of the cable. If it's a "DLC-100", you could try a "DLC-200" which seems to be a little heavier gauge of wire... If the Cables you are having problems with are failing, I would try contacting LG Support to see if they can assist you. (800) 793-8896.

Other than the factory original cable that came with my Optimus S phone (that cable being long since thrown away by now), I haven't had any LG branded cables. I haven't even seen them sold anywhere. Even when I went to a Sprint dealer, they sold me whatever the Sprint branded ones were. Are the LG cables sold in retail stores anywhere that I should look, or is it online?

Unfortunately, probably only from Customer Service... If they are available in retail, they should be able to tell you where they are sold... (800) 793-8896

i don't think it's the cable - i think they have some issues manufactuing these phones.
i see a lot of posts about people complaing about the charging. they must not be soddering these things very well.
my motorola razor is like 10 years old and still charges like a champ.
my LG product lasted 45 days before the charging completely failed and repair would not fix it.
no wonder people stick with Motorola and Apple - they design and test stuff that lasts longer than comapnies like LG.
