G2X - Does not respond after using GPS Navigator

Hi, Most of the times I use the Navigator App/ TelNav app on the phone for travel assistance example: finding the route, nearest places etc.

First thing observed is that the phone takes very long time (app. 5-10min) to connect to the GPS satellites. Second one, after I exit the navigation app, the phone hangs-up/stops responding. It does not matter what you do. Finally it ends up taking out the battery; replacing it again and switching the phone on to make it work as usual.

I am not sure if it is a phone problem. I triedsearching some ways to claim the warranty. But the warranty guide (given with the phone) always showed me T-Mobile customer care website and contact numbers. As my phone is an unlocked one and AT&T sim card is installed in it, I have no relation with T-Mobile.

Please let me know what needs to be done as soon as possible. If it is some phone Hardware issue, let me know how it can be fixed. My warranty period expires after 1.5 to 2 months (Approximately)

Note: I have upgraded the phone OS to Ginger bread through LG official upgrade tool.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and quick reply.

If your phone is unlocked and you are using an AT&T SIM card, you may have the wrong data settings in your phone. I would call AT&T Customer care(800-331-0500) and have them check the internet settings for AT&T's network on your phone. I also know that unlocked phones will have trouble with some internet based applications. Your phone is a Tmobile phone running on AT&T's network, and that will cause some of the features on your phone to not work properly. As far as a warranty on the device, I know most providers will not warranty an unlocked or rooted device. Unlocking the phone does void the warranty. You can call Tmobile Customer Care(800-866-2453) and ask them. I know that Verizon and AT&T both do not warranty unlocked devices.

Thanks for your reply. Before buying I contacted the seller and got the information that the phone has manufacturer warranty.

My internet settings seem to be correct (these are suggested by LG) and works good for all my internet applications (ex: browser, opera, weather and location.. etc.).

Can't I contact LG for the warranty information?

You would have to go through your provider. The information the seller gave you may be incorrect. Having worked for AT&T, I do know that they along with Verizon do not warranty unlocked or rooted devices. You would have to call T-mobile for any warranty questions. Although LG does make the phones, all warranty questions have to go through the provider.

I also forgot to mention that it still would be a good idea to call AT&T and have them check the settings. The network settings for AT&T are different from what LG may have. I do think the setting may be correct since everything else is working properly, but it may be one setting for AT&T that might be causing your GPS to not work

You can try that number and see if they will warranty your phone. Don't be surprised if they don't since it's an unlocked device. I have a rooted LG phone that I called to get a warranty replacement and because it is rooted, I can not get it replaced.

I think it might be covered, but the problem is they will probably send you a replacement which won't be unlocked... I would call Support and see what they say. (800) 793-8896.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I have called the give number. Seems like the representative does not know that LG sells unlocked phones. I was trying to expalin the fact that the phone is "Factory Unlocked". Somehow I failed to do that. But what she says is that the phone will be locked.

Please tell me one thing, if I unlock the phone in my own with the help of some third party, can I claim the warranty? Also, for an instance if I get a replacement to my device today (12/29/2011) will the warrany on that piece be for next one year starting from today?
