No Gingerbread update for LG P970 yet. It's really bad, really sucks. My friend has Samsung Ace which is running Gingerbread, it's a low end model comapre to P970. Even, no official date announced for Gingerbread yet from LG. Can anyone tell me the exact launch date of Gingerbread update for LG P970.
Also, I've few issues when i try to capture video phone hungs.

Ok, a lot of time has passed now. Is there any update? I'm beginnung to get sorta upset with the slow update and intransparent LG policy of android updates.

Iå«m also very dissapponited. There should have been an update in september...now we are in october and still no uodate to 2,3!! Why LG is it so hard to get an update? Please try to get out new OS versions faster or this will be my last LG phone. My wife should already have got a an Android from LG, but if things will not change it will be from another vendor...
As said onhttp://www.xda-developers.com forum fpr LG black p970:
"The only downside of this device is that it comes loaded with Froyo 2.2.1, which is likely the more reason for so many people requesting a forum for it, so that they can put Gingerbread on it (or Ice Cream Sandwich when the time comes)."
This should have be taken care of by LG....

We have been hearing "next month" from LG for many months now. I have zero confidence in reports the update will be available on 12th December. LG you are being extremely silly in your mismanagement of this issue. By selling devices with a promise of an upgrade "soon" you are building our expectations and then failing to deliver.
Right now instead of being a happy customer recommending LG to my friends (and by the way I work for a major carrier) I am telling people to choose other devices.
You now have a hard road ahead to regain my confidence and any potential future business. It's all such a shame since the P970 was actually a good phone. You have wasted your opportunity.

Oh and while I am at it...your pc software really sucks. I suggest you employ a few UI experts and also perform better testing. Your pc software is close to unusable.

I bought P970 few days ago and updated the software to 10f. However, this update didn't install Gingerbread (I am really not sure what did it actually update). I checked with LG Support in India and they told me to check again in last week of December for Gingerbread update.

The phone is nice and there are lots of cool features also. However, LG seems to have lost it there and it doesn't think it is necessary to provide upgrades. When Sony and others (including cheap Chinese brands) are talking about ICS, I am not sure what is preventing LG from releasing gingerbread update.

This site is dedicated to US support of LG phones so I don't have any info on the P970. I hate to see you move away from LG, but I can't help. I would contact LG Support in your country.

When I bought my P970 i was sold by saying its readily upgradable to 2.3 and its a lie. Its about an 7 months since I bought and no updates..Other vendors are moving to ICS while we have to beg LG for Gingerbread..When I contacted LG support in India, they said Dec last week and this 31-dec and now the reply is next month . LG is really frustrating with the updates and I would never buy an LG product again..moving out of LG ...

I've been waiting for ages for this Gingerbread update and i cannot in any way understand why the update isn't released yet.
Are programmers at LG retarded or what ? (one could suspect that, since the software update tool can be made in 5 minutes by average 1st grade high school programmer)
I cannot understand why no one gives straight answers. If there's no update by the end of january i'm leaving LG forever (and not just smartphones, monitors, TVs, etc...) that's for sure, because i've had enough.
Not because i love whining about something that should be done almost a year ago, but simply because competition (Samsung,...) has so much better options to offer at this moment (they're upgrading their products to Ice Cream) .. so why not take the best available ?

I can agree on most posts in this topic. Bought my phone in september 2011 and waiting ever since for this update i am truly considering changing my phone for some HTC or some similiar smartphone because this is really disturbing. Why in the world does LG give their dates out and when they fail to release on that date, they go completely silent. One could understand that there was a flood or that lead project guy is having health issues, or whatever, but posting dates (was it 3 times altogether?) and then failing, after that failing even more when going completely blank with no explanation whatsoever why it was delayed, and support guys on top of that are acting like they have no clue whatsoever on what's going on.
It's like LG is doing that deliberately on themselves, i aswell cannot think of anything else, and am leaving my Optimus P970 in a few weeks if there's no drastic improvement = UPDATE. And never i'm gonna buy another LG product.
Don't expect my return.
bye

Was speaking to a carphone warehouse tech today who says the gingerbread is not coming to optimus phones & they are now going to release ice cream sandwich instead. Probably wrong though.
