HBS-700 poor audio from laptop

I just got my headset this weekend and have been using with my Iphone and Windows 7 laptop. Audio with the Iphone is excellent, but there are significant periods of time when the laptop audio through the bluetooth is just horrificly bad (like listening to an FM station that is almost out of range). I done a fair amount of googling, but nothing has come up as a solid answer yet. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the bluetooth drivers from Dell, dis/reconnected my bluetooth device several times...It will play audio at a high level for a few minutes, then degrade in quality until it is unlistenable. If I keep listening, the audio quality will eventually, and randomly, get better...for a little bit.

1. Has anybody else experienced this?

2. Is there a way to fix an issue like this?

I haven't seen this on my HP Laptop, however I'm using a third party Bluetooth Dongle and Bluesoleil Drivers. I don't know if it's a driver issue, or something with the Laptop interfering.... I don't have any access to a Dell to test, but I'll ask around to see if anyone has experienced this problem....

Anyone out there seeing this issue??

I am experiencing the same thing. Here's my environment and what I'm noticing.

Device: LG HBS700 ;;Computer: ASUS G73Sw ;; Windows 7 Home Premium ;; Internal Bluetooth: BT 270 / Broadcomm ? (wish I knew more here, I'm new at this bluetooth stuff)

The issue happens when the microphone on the bluetooth device is activated. Either Skype, or going to the "Recording" tab in the "Sound" settings in the control panel. It's almost like the headset switches to another service/protocol/setting when recording, and the one it switches to makes the headset sound mono and scratchy.

Looking for a solution as well. Thanks.

YES! I have this exact same issue. I work in a quiet environment, and this happens on a daily basis. Typically re-pairing the headset/laptop works, however today it isn't. I just upgraded my bluetooth and device drivers. Still having the same issue. It almost sounds like a channel is droping out, or not getting picked up. The best I can do is describe the sound as distant, hollow, or "echo-y". And the previous post is right-on with the whole "out of range of the FM Station" description of the sound. The music is incomprehensible. And I don't have it paired with any other devices (only my IBM laptop), so getting 'confused' is not the issue. I'm using the most UTD BT drivers for my IBM, as well as for the headset (at least as far as I'm aware of). I can try using a 3rd party BT dongle, but I doubt that will work - I suspect it has to do with the headset dropping a channel for some reason.

I'm having the same issue today. I've had the headset for over a week and use it to stream audio from my laptop. Never had this problem before (scratchy and mono) and didn't have this issue for most of the day.

  • Has anything changed on the Laptop? Did you try rebooting? I'm not sure why the headset would just stop working... I would delete the Pairing and make sure both devices are deleted from each other. Reboot the PC and try the Pairing process again.

If the device still doesn't work, then possibly there is a problem with the drivers or the device has failed. I'd contact LG Support to see what they can do to assist you. (800) 793-8896

    I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
