LG, please consider the suggestions in this thread for inclusion in the Dare's next firmware upgrade.
I would love to see a Slide to Unlock feature (vice the current touch to unlock). Too many people are finding themselves accidentally making calls when the phone unlocks in their pockets. A Slide to Unlock would prevent that.
Other suggestions are Visual Voice Mail (VVM) and full Flash Internet browsing.

I personally would like to see the video utilize the ENTIRE length and width of the Dare screen and I agree with the addition of a sliding unlock on the phone. Lastly, I would like to have the ability to password-protect your text messages, kinda like voicemail.My two cents!Eric

Yet ANOTHER suggestion is voice to text capability. We know the Dare has speech recognition... let's put it to good use in the Notepad by allowing it to take dictation. Possible? And does the device have enough internal memory to support full flash Internet browsing?

While putting in all my phone numbers, I found out that there is a limit on how many contacts you can put in a certain group. I have about 20-30 people that I want to put in my colleagues group. I was limited to having only 10 in that group. WHAT?!?!?!How come we can hold up to 1000 contacts in our Dare, but can't have more than 10 contacts in any one group?If you have the ability to have 1000 contacts, then you should have the ability to put all 1000 in one group (which is ridiculous) and the Dare won't complain.

I would love to have this missing feature back that I had on my enV and an older phone: The ability to have a different ringtone for texts and calls for contacts Having one generic text tone is just not acceptable. (I'm not joking, as my children have lost the ability to speak and only text, I like to know when it is them) : )

Respectfully, the music player will not play any song higher than #256 on the list, whenever shuffle mode is turned on. Not only will it not include them during s "play all" command, but it will not even play a song that has been selected directly from the song list, if that song is higher than position 256 on the list AND shuffle mode is ON. This is extremely limiting and irritating on a device that, with a card, can hold many times that number of songs -- to only be able to play the first 256 songs while shuffle is turned on. A fix for this condition on the next firmware update would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks, -WW

While we're wishing for improvements... the ability to make folders in My Pix and My Videos would be great in helping to organize large libraries. Any way to do that too?

Definitely important! Why is the awesome Dare limited to just one ringtone for all incoming text messages? It would be so easy to set different tones for different contacts. LG, can it be done by firmware?

I think these should be included in the new firmware update: visual voicemail, txt to speech, separate clr & delete on the keyboard, full screen video, slide to unlock, increase group limit, and also enable the fonts to take effect on majority of the phone (text messages, main menu, contacts, etc.) not just the basic menus!

I agree with Chief. The touch unlock should be a slide feature not a tap. Also, after I unlock the scree, I don't think the screen should flash "screen unlocked". I know this already! Also, after I delete an SMS don't to see the animation of the SMS going to the trash can. It gets a little annoying. Thanks. Looking forward to the changes in the next firmware upgrade.

Ok, a few more suggestions... Unintrusive text/call notifications: While texting, if a new text message comes thru, it interrupts your current texting to let you know a new one arrived. It would be nice not to be interrupted while texting. At times, I hit the "View Now" button and begin texting another person. Also, this happens when a new call comes thru. Maybe have a small button towards the bottom or side so you don't answer by mistake would be nice. Ability to suppress text notifications: If you don't want to be notified that a new message has arrived, it can be delivered but in a "silent" type way. Simply have it appear in your inbox and not announce that a new one is waiting for you to "View Now" or "View Later". Touch screen improvements: The touch screen sensitivity could be improved a bit more. Camera enhancements: In the highest resolution, you should be able to zoom. That functionality is only available in the low resolution mode. BTW, I hope everyone is taking time to pass these wonderful suggestions over to LG's website. It's nice making mention to wants/desires here, but the only way we will see enhancements is by telling the source jstwondrng

Everytime i put smart pic or face detection on my camera options, it goes back to default when i close it and reopen it. It would be nice if the phone saved these options. I am as well curious about the estimated time on when the upgrade will be released.

Software releases are kept pretty quiet. Because the company doesnt want to set false expectations for a launch and then have something happen and not launch it on time. If I hear something though I will get it on this thread. Thanks for your patience.

I agree with all the previous ideas, also with some new tools and utilities like in other lg phones such as the rumor. I would love to be able to use my phone in even more ways. I think the camera zoom and the saving of settings needs to come as well as an adjustment on the camera flash. I have practically blinded myself using it sometimes because of how bright it is and some times it will be so bright that you would not be able to see what is in the picture. Also some new themes would be great as well as maybe screen brightness adjustment, even though there is the automatic screen brightner it would be nice to have it manual as well. Some times my phone will even brighten and dimmer on and off for a few seconds if the light isnt steady surrounding me. Other than that, all these other ideas would be great

i just got the dare and i'm amazed that nobody at lg has realized that the videos are taken in full screen and played back in a much smaller screen resolution. not cool man!!! you have the technology and knowlege to blow us away with a phone that is as good as the iphone!!! but what are you waiting for give us the full screen!!!!! i cant stress it enough. the dare has a less bugy os than the blackberry and a split second faster than even the iphone. it's just obviously not doing as much as the iphone. but we as consumers want an all in one. not to put down the awsome watch phone cause it is awsome. but i want a dare with a little bit bigger screen, a full movie capable screen and mabey even a fm transmitter, cause i almost got the chocolate just for that feature... that is bad as, now make it all in one and im sold, after much research i found that you can put movies on here and they will look amazing, but the screen is just toooo small. i know alot of peaple were wanting the smaller phone for along time but its a new age and now its time for the pocket pc phone from LG..

How about just fixing the music player!!! The mp3 player has so many documented bugs/annoyances and it's supposed to be a main feature of the phone, so of my complaints: - fix music synchronization so you don't have to use rhapsody(which no one uses!), direct windows media player support - fix random songs feature - 200 songs limit - improve playlist/song management - fix album art/song id3 tags support - huge problem - the developers should test their code with couple of thousand songs and see how usable their app is before going to production!

Another idea is to add a lock shortcut so people can lock and unlock their Dare easily with a password from the main menu. I think we have enough ideas for both v07 and v09 upgrades!

I would like a firmware that actually lets me make use of the vcast SONG ID. There is DEFINATELY a bug in this firmware. I went through several phones when i first purchased the phone only to realize that I would have to turn the phone off and then on...then it would work. BUT!!....as soon as I would send/recieve a call, the song ID would NOT be able to ID any song and I would have to do the off/on thing again.....very very annnoying! I then upgraded to V05 and this fixed the problem with the songid. I was having trouble with my gps losing a signal and the verizon guy recommended that I upgraded to v06. I did this and it DID NOT fix my problem with the gps and now my SONGID problems are back to the way they were with the original V03 firmware. Can we please get the songID to work. Im not a programmer, but the problem is related to connecting to a call...whatever happens when a call is connected must confuse/bug/corrupt the songid. This is one of the few extras from verizon that I could actually benefit from and it doesnt work. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!

Whenever I send a text message, I'll sometimes receive one at the same time. This causes the sending to fail. I have V05 but I do not see this addressed as a fix in V06.

I just created a profile just to say that threaded text messaging would be amazing, or at least save the sorting on my phone. Just to clear it up I will give you an example. Let's say I go to my inbox and set the sorting to sender, and then exit and when I come back to my inbox I wish it would stay sorted to sender, but changes back to date/time message is received. (It seems like a good, cheap, and easy way to semi fix threaded text messaging without having to go in depth programming). LG I want you to tell me if that is possible and if it is not then I want to know why Also there is also bug that I have noticed while texting. If I am on word and text something like "what" and go to qwerty while the word is still highlighted and if I go back to word again and when I press the next button it inserts 0 and doesn't change the word.

v06 is my first experience with the phone and i love it but would also be nice to have: - ( am i the only one that wants this? lol ) an auto corrective keyboard just in case of a typo - threaded texts - separate ringtones for different contacts - slide unlock ( why oh why have a touch unlock ) - full screen playback - different themes would be nice ( more of an option from either white or black )

well, sync with windows media player actually works when you install the USB driver AND the rhapsody (ughh, but that's verizon!), but the album cover should show up no matter what size, same for all the complaints about the IDv1,2 support, and playlist syncs, song order, number of songs...oh where is that v7 firmware!?!?!?

Hmm, for V07 I would like to see:
- Ability to add folders or groups to the "My PIX" section (I have tons of pics, and it is a hassle to scroll and try to find a certain picture) (if possible, folders in the "My Plix" or in the "My Sounds" section ect) - Ability to lock certain parts of the phone (example: lock inbox, sentbox, drafts so you would have to enter your password to go inside) - Ability to lock folders in the PIC/FLIX/SOUND section, so you would have to enter a passcode to even veiw the folder (if the pix locking gets enabled like i stated above) - Voice enabled txt'ing (say the word and it types it for you) - The ability to zoom-in while on high resolution mode on the camera - The ability to zoom alot more while on the video camera - Slide to unlock feature - Flash-light mode (the flash on the camera, except the camera wouldn't be running and it wouldn't blink) (yes I saw the "take a picture of blank white, but, the pic doesn't focus the light anywhere... the flash does) - Ability to add more contacts to groups - Shortcut for locking the phone (instead of going into setting and then security) - Accelerometer (how fast you're going) (this is probably considered an app tho) - Distance meter (how far you've drove / walked) (this is probably considered an app tho) - Improve battery life (or a feature to lower the phone's battery use) - Ability to COMPLETELY remove the shortcut feature - More picture editing features - More video editing features (no offense, but the video editing sucks. again, no offense) - Option to turn on/off spell-check while texting
Heh, sorry for the long list. I already think the Dare is amazing. But if some (or most?) of these features were added, it would be the perfect user-friendly phone... ever.
Also, it would be nice to have more apps... but I would MUCH rather have more features added rather than games and apps.

For the next update...I would LOVE to see threaded txts. Maybe more like the iPhone or Xenon with the bubbles. Also, for it to stay like that so you dont have to just sort it like that every time you go to your message, that would get annoying. Also I agree with a new theme, flashlight, the ability to zoom more on high resolution and videos, slide to unlock, and for landscape mode when you turn your phone, not just when you txt or in Browser or music player.

Im not 100% sure if this is the way, but im pretty sure if you do : Settings and Tools/Phone Info/ Software Update/ Check Now Like i said, im not 100% positive if thats the way, you might have to download it from the internet, but I dont know. Hopefully someone who knows will reply soon.

To update the LG Dare firmware all you have to do is go to a Verizon Wireless store and ask for a software update for your phone. It only takes about 20 minutes and it's free.

I really don't think an update for the software for battery life will make a big difference, the efficiency of the battery decreases the longer you been using the phone. You you can't expect an update to fix that.

heres my suggestions... i see that the lg versa(full touchscreen just like the dare) has Visual Voice Mail... why doesn't the dare? why didn't the dare before that phone came out?? 1.Add visual Voice mail to the update. also Fix the keyboard problem that was supposed to be fixed in update V06.. you know where your textin and you change the keyboard to qwerty by accident and then go back to regular and you get a bunch of 0's behind your words?? 2.Fix the type errro from changing from reg keypad layout to qwerty board i cannot stress this enough of how big of annoyance it is to add "slide" to unlock.. i find myself on the web browser after removing the phone from my pocket all the time... all i can say is im glad i have unlimited data! 3. Slide to unlock feature i really miss how on my old 8300 i could actually set different text ringers for different ppl.. no not anymore.. not a newer model phone.. that feature is GONE!! 4. different text ringers for different contacts. and it would be cool to have threaded text messging.. 5. add threaded text messaging plzzz and last but not least... PLZ reinstate the lg dare as the dominant touch screen phone on verizon... GIVE THE DARE the new UI that the versa has AS WELL.. we all know the dare is a better phone over all and the versa has one huge thing over the dare.. and thats the new smother UI!! if we wanted a qwerty board we would have got a voyager or enVtouch. 6. one thing i would really love that i havent seen mentioned is faster forwarding in the music player! i have a lot of dj sets that are 60 minutes or longer and it takes waaay too long to forward. if you could touch that bar that shows progress of the mp3 to any spot in the track would be amazing! thanks

I would love to see an automatic lock feature, so before your phone can make calls or text you should put a password in it. That way not just anyone can get your phone and just text people, call people, or if your phone is stolen, that they can't just use it. As well I would love to see threaded text messages, and slide to unlock, and the ability to buy apps.

I have just seen the recent rush of people wanting to make the phone have the interface of the versa's but the thing is is that LG is not willing to spend their time to work on remaking an already good UI for the Dare. Also apps are a no can do with LG because they do not have a developer kit like the iPhone just to let you know. LG Dare has lost it's thunder, it has been like almost a year that the Dare have been in the top, Versa and EnVTouch are now in the storm.

First, the Dare needs an unlock that uses a slide or multi-touch or the ability to disable the screen unlock. It comes unlocked a lot. Others: -Visual voicemail -Text threads -Flashlight mode -Delete key in Calculator -The ability to insert cursor at the beginning or end of a line of text. Or, arrows to move the cursor.

Suggestions for V07 as i see it: - individual txt alerts per contact. you can not convince me that this is a limit on the Dare's (or any of your phones) technology since i had this feature on my vx6000 back in 2005. LG...that was 4 years ago. come on
. - please consider bringing back my BELOVED "quick alarm". how i miss thee. - along with individual txt alerts; another feature i havent seen is the shortcut key to lock the phone. i'm not talking about locking the keys, i'm talking about locking the phone. as it stands (for the past 4 phones now) i have to flip thru all the menus to get the the "security" section...enter a password...and THEN am i able to lock my phone. i believe that when the security steps for turning ON the security is higher than turning it OFF, something has gone terribly wrong. - search/filter feature for pictures. similar to the filter in the contacts list would be a good start, but use your imagination and suprize me. - keyword search from txt msgs. i would like to be able to type in a word (or part) and get a list of all the txts msgs that contain that criteria. - i'll 2nd the interruption of functions when a txt arrives. i.e. txting and then a txt comes in and steals the screen. The way i see it, thats what the assigned alert is for. Play the alert sound, but don't hog the screen. if the phone is on silent, vibe it. pretty simple. - i'll agree with a more elaborate unlocking method for the keys. i saw that the enV 2 requires you to slide upwards across the entire screen. not bad at all. - a way to disable the BIG FAT answer, ignore, and quiet, buttons on the screen on an incoming call. some of us prefer the hard keys. and believe it or not, some of us just let it ring to vm rather than quieting or ignoring a call. so if we could CHOOSE which buttons are displayed, that'd be splendid. oh yea, i said "splendid" - last be CERTAINLY no least. Why with the Dare's large gorgeous high-res screen am i looking at the WORLD'S SMALLEST THUMBNAILS OF MY CONTACT'S PICTURE ID when they call?????? 
I mean i don't even think you're meeting the industry standard size of thumbnails with it. I'm calling it a pinkynail. Come on. Make it full screen, overlay your BIG FAT buttons over it, i don't care, but its rather absurd. My Venus could; so can the Dare. End of story. Look, I love my baby (girlfriend). She's beautiful. May i please see her when she calls? Please? That's all i got. This is truly a great phone. I'm loving it. Consider our suggestions here and i believe many others will love it too. From what I am reading on these forums it seems the DARE is a very popular model and I am not the only one hoping LG and Verizon address the small but numerous short comings of the phone with a Firmware upgrade. I can truly say I enjoy using the LG Dare but as I mention these few short comings can make it a bit fustrating to use. As far as I know a employee of LG who's tag is LGPRO is the closes to the LG structure and would be the first to hear if a pending firmware release is coming. So far he has stated that nothing has ben mention by LG as of yet. Hopfully Firmware version 07 has passed QA by now and is pending a release date. I also hope that LG has taken into consideration all the feedback from this forum and added several of the desired features to this feature phone. My biggest fear is that LG has completely abandon the DARE in favore of the VERSA or a newer model. This would be ashamed as they will cause tens of thousands LG dare owners to feel betrayed and Real hur Verizon and LGs image. IF this is to be a Iphone alternative then relly taking into consideration the opinion of it's fan would really benift LG and Verizon.

Please add an option to prevent the screen from unlocking when a call ends. It would be nice to be able to end a bluetooth call without having to pull the phone from my pocket just to re-lock the screen. Somehow, if I don't re-lock the screen, I wind up calling someone unintentionally or sending a text message full of jibberish to a random contact. Overall I really like the phone but this one thing makes using it with a bluetooth headset a real PITA.

Really Telca has the op for full Web including Tab support,Java script, flash.. the works but you give use the watered down version... the dare can take the full version.. You can not even save a web page.. there is a lot that needs to be done with this... including fixing the return key when inputting text in a forum from phone the return key does not work. 15.)Can we Say Java.......... I know the phone came with java but VZW removed it from firmware.. This really hurts the dare and if you can not add this in to the Firmware because of VZW will then you should leak it out so we can add it or your going to have a lot of people spending there time working on hacking your firmware just to put it on the phone.. Telus has it and I read some where that Telus does not use Brew but they actual do they just don't let you run any brew apps but brew apps still can be run .......... By giving us Java back you then Give the Dare a chance at betting the Iphone if you dont then when the Iphone releases the 3g CDMA phone it will be all over for LG... 16.).. Don't just give us New Themes Give use an app to make our own Themes that we can load up... The more we can customize the phone the more People will love the Phone... Stop trying to locking every thing up so tight that the user can not even enjoy there phone... every one is different and every one likes to express it.. SO LET US 17.)Camera/Video ... Option to put the files where we want them to go... I will say this really pisses me off I had a Nokia Slider and was able to due anything i wanted with that phone... maybe you should look at some of there phones or stop letting companys like VZW make all the rules.. ..*** being able to change folders when taking Pictures/Video lets us organize our files better.. nothing worse then to want to show some one the pics of our beach trip and have to go through 100 different pics that you may or may not want them to see *** 18.)*** A big Must *** allow us to set op for charing.. We should be able to say cut the screen off during charging and if something like a call comes in let it cut back on just like when you lock the screen... I really dont want to burn out my screen or does LG come with lifetime screen replacement? 19.)Add OpenGL.. 20.)allow Recording of both sides of phone Call with out time limit 21.)allow Voice Notes with out Time limit and a short cut that lets you get to it.. having to go through to many menus just to get app. 22.) allow more desktop short cutes by ... I Do not use the local memory at all .. I keep all my songs on MicroSD card.. but yet i have 125mb of memory i can not use for anything but for music this sucks... i would like to use it for pictures and video.. some times you may not be able to get to a SD card and you need the extra room or maybe i want more games ... why should i have to disable a game or remove it when i have another 125mb that i can use but you want let me... Will I guess i will stop there... Dont take this personal LG Product Pro.... I know you don't make the calls I just spent to much money on the phone for it to be no better then a cheap 100.00 phone... When some one spends over 400.00 for a phone they expected it to have most if not all of everything that we are stating that needs to change... in fact we are saying either get with the program or will just go some where else... Maybe Will get the BlackBerry or Nokia or Iphone. It's not that we want to go some where else its just if we pay up for some thing that does not give us what we should be getting for our money then will just remember that the next time we get a phone and when some one says LG will laugh and Say if you want your moneys worth then get a Nokia... LG makes good phones.. Just LG lets the wireless companys control to much of what the phones can and can not do.. You make the phones and if you dont sell them you'll be out of a job.. and if you keep letting Money hunger company's like VZW control your product like this then your then one that will end up holding the short end of the stick... Just food for thought... Maybe you could release your on Firmware and just put it out there as if some one else came up with it... and then your product would sore ... even if you let them control the orginal firmware you should really thing about the users and not the company because the users is the ones buying the phones..... Or maybe you should get into CDMA phones just like you do GSM ones.. again this is not at you LG Product Pro... It's at LG Thanks.. please feel free to give some feed back.. ok first of all let me say this... the phone is great ok but it can't beat iphone or even be equal with the new phones out!!! heres what it needs... 1. a language pack: tired of reading these little letters that don't make sense and you have to go and fix them 2. the ability to use apps like iphone: without this verizon or LG has no chance against Apple and AT&T 3. As it was mentioned above, an app to make your OWN theme: the themes are terrible 4. make the music page a different color: no one likes the dark purple and the album swiveling needs some work as well 5. full screen any time any where: you need to make your phones more interesting than iphone and more fun 6. threaded text message: enough said 7. JAVA 8. stutter speed: ok i take a great pic and it moves half a second later 9. new lock/unlock method: i keep making calls in my pants!! make it like the enV touch 10. make a side bar like the omnia: helps for easier usage of tools 11. once again interruptions: when you get a text while texting, put a small button or indicator of a new text 12. and (for now): a better calculator when you turn it just like iphone well thats all for now. the most important is the APPS!! PUT IT IN!!!! No one else will want to buy your phones trust me

I'm not sure if this is just my phone, or if someone already posted this suggestion but... I've recently experience an issue with t9 texting though. It doesn't occur very frequently, but sometimes when i reply or create a new text message and type a word and try to hit "next" to go to different words (using the predictive text), it won't actually go to the next word but instead input a "0". Apparently it happens when i switch from the qwerty keyboard back to the t9/portrait mode. For example if i type the word "year" and hit "next" it would normally change the word to "wear". But with this issue that i've encountered it would look like "year0". Its really annoying and hopefully if there is another firmware update this issue will be resolved.

Yes, please allow notifications to be turned off! This is so incredibly annoying. I actually miss answering calls while I fumble around trying to hit "View Later", and if I try to make a call through my bluetooth in my car, I have to scramble around and find the phone, unlock it, and hit "View Later" if a text message has arrived. It's awful! Why in the world can't this be turned off?

I have been experiencing the same texting issue as noto ever since i updated to v06( terrible idea, it made me hate my phone because it generally made it worse and i text alot) but it does not only happen when i switch from qwerty to t9/word it happens almost every other text. I called verizon about 2 weeks ago and talked to a tech rep for awhile and he could not find a new firmware on the system anywhere but he did say that they usually do not find out there will be an update until its about to be released

Just asking because other LG people like the Tech's states that LG does not make the firmware and they only load the firmware that the Carrier has the Firmware made.. if this is the case then we all are wasting our time here... we all should be giving VZW a piece of our mind instead of LG .... VZW is one of the worst company's around... think about it... cost of 100.00 a month for unlimted plan with out Vcast which is another 15.00 and .. then they want you to pay for everything you do as a extra charge even games ... you can not just pay the game right out you have to pay for usage... really every one should stop letting companys do this ... I don't think that LG product Pro is privy to that info. And I am a bit confused by a comment he made in another thread where he states that firmware upgrades are dictated by the carrier and not the manufacture. I dont know if he means that VZW is responsible for creating the firmware upgrade or for requesting it from the manufacture. I have asked him to clear that up and will wait for his response. However as I have stated before in other threads I really feel betrayed by both LG and Verizon for the mere fact that the DARE was the flagship feature phone when purchased and may I even comment a phone that did more then most smart phones like the IPhone, which just got voice activation and reconition now. I purchased the DARE six months ago and in that time the Iphone has had several, mark that several firmwar releases to make it comparable to the DARE and surpass it (apps aside). Meanwhile verizon and LG have done Nada for the dare instead thye have wasted time bring out another gazillion phones. The versa , the Envy 3 and envy touch ( how many envy versions do we need?). All with new features and OTA firmware realeases on the get go. When all VZW and LG needed to do is update the DARE with a OTA firmware that introduced all the plausable and fesible suggestions that we the 70,000 plus DARE users have requested to bring our beloved phone up to par. It is trully a sad testement to VZW and LG that there customer feed back is not valued and that we are basically being told to @@@@ off and just buy another phone. Well that is exsactlly what they will get infact I am considering leaving VZW all together and never again purchase a LG product because of this attidude towars their customers. I to will never recommed a LG product to friends and co-works again because of their falilure to even comment to or acknowledged their customers. personally my opinion of VZW and LG has sunk due to the fact that they seem to abandon their phones at an arlarming rate. Look I understand the need to innovate but come on 1 year after realease they are abandoning the DARE!!!! What gives. Will they Abandon the Versa and The Envyu touch in six months? Anyway all we are asking is for some one from LG engineering or marketing to make a comment on wheather VZW has requested a Firmware upgrade or not so we can move on. This is coming down to the wire for LG and VZW reagrding the DARE and what 70,000 plus subscribers are going to do. I am sadden by the attidued that VZW and LG have taken towards such an extrodnary phone.

I mean as a voice of 70,000 subscribers who call the Dare their phone of choice VZW will have to listen or risk loosing 70,000 subscribers that AT&T would not mind picking up. I think that voicing your concerns to Verizon Wireless is a great idea. It takes a lot of people and interaction on both sides. I do work for LG and we appreciate the feedback that we get on this forum. I also worked for Verizon Wireless for a number of years and know that they treat customer concerns with a lot of care.

LG Product Pro no need for you to apoligize. It is the powers that be that need to really step up to the plate and address us - Verizon product support and LG product support. We vist and comment on this forum in hopes that LG would hear our concerns and bring them to Verizon where both could sit down and address the issues. We would all like very much just to know that those responsible for firmware for the LG dare hear our collective voices. Let me do this. I will add a suggestion tab to my reporting. This way trending suggestions will be given to the developers. I also want you to know how quaint and hands on the LG family is. People from every level in the company pop in and take a look at this site. In reference to making a suggestion to Verizon Wireless. The best way would be to write a direct letter and request some sort of forum or go to the forum and make a tab for suggestions. I believe that their forum is moderated as well. LG Product Pro.. I have a Question for you... Since I do not know what is in the contract you have with VZW... I will have to count on you to find answer to this... Can LG give info so custom software can be made? The phone is ours and we can do what we want with it .. the software is protected but the core software should be open source we just need drivers and info about call funcations and so on so custom firmware can be made... Even though I my self can not program there are some who can and would if given the ok and the right info... if you take a look at the thread started at VZW you will see that no one from VZW as even botherd to say hey we hear you and we are working on it ... or anything for that matter... THEY DON'T care this is way you have gotten so many upset response to the Dare.. I know for a fact that when you made the phone you seen it total different then they way VZW released it .. If you didn't you would not have had Java and a few other things in it that was taken out by VZW... Don't let them bring you down with them... Thanks for taking the time to answer this question.. Since the thread has started on the VZW forum we have not heared anything from any VZW rep but we will continue to give it time. We intend to keep up the pressure both here and the VZW forum. Maybe in some way or form LG and VZW will take heed of our fustration and begin the process of working together to implement some of our suggetions and announce a sechduled release date for v07. I have a suggestion, the ability to turn sounds into ringers. Its a simple and probably dumb thing but i got a ton of cool sounds and no way of using them. I cant even use them as an alert sound. I also encounter a problem hooking the dare up to my laptop. Everytime i do, my phone freezes up and a little red lock appears at the top right side of the screen by the battery level indicator.....dont know if you can make the connection software easier to connect or what. What can i do to fix this on my own? I installed the cd that comes with the phone too.

Ok Guys since no one from any side has come forth and told us anything about firmware... I decide to see what i can do about the themes and i can make custom themes once i get a under standing of xml so if any of you know xml and would like to help let me know... this will speed up the release of new theme .. ;-) Also have been checking out the different phones being released and i think that LG Dare has been left behind and they have no plains of catching the Dare up in fact the LG enV Touch is the replacement for Dare with this being said I don't think they care or is going to do nothing more then fix bug's that cause running issues only.. I think that they need to give all of us a free exchange... @LG why do you make such a waste full phone and charge so much for it... I can get a BlackBerry Storm for the same price and in fact if some one wants to sign a 2 yr contract they can get the BB for about 100.00 cheaper.. whats up with this... I would think that we meant more to the company's but i guess they want to see if we will jump ship or not.. I just got through talking to some of the VZW sales people and this is what they are telling me.. The Dare was replaced with the LG Versa and that the way VZW does things is they will release a phone about every 6 months and the new release is the feature phone with VZW leaving the other phone behind.. They where stating that VZW does this to get people buying new phones and that the Firmware updates are to fix just bug's like the static issue with the blue tooth and so forth.. So based on what they where telling me we should not expected much from VZW hence why they have yet to comment about this.. NOW here are some things to really upset you Dare owners.. 1.) LG made the Dare with JAVA but VZW demanded that the JAVA be disabled / removed .... reason -- they don't want you to be able to use free apps they want you to have to buy apps from them 2.) LG made the Dare with OpenGL ES.. again VZW had them disable it.. reason -- have no clue since games like NFS 09 uses this. 3.) LG made the Dare with Flash Lite 2.1 which means that the browser could support Flash Content like the enV Touch and the Versa but instead they disabled this and a few other things in the browser.. Flash lite 2.1 is still installed because you can run swf files and all they would have to do is change the settings that states Flash content is support. Guy's and Girls some of the very things that we want and demand are the very things that VZW demanded to be removed from the phone.. In light of all of this i do not see VZW adding support for such things instead they are waiting on us to give up and to just buy another phone.. Java and OpenGL is still there but all Brew files that are needed to access this have been removed thinks to VZW.. No wonder why they want comment.. They answer they have for us is Clear Get lost your wasting our time.. We the People not just the Dare users but any one that uses a cell phone needs to take action before it gets even worse. Has any one went to a car dealer and bought a car and when you tried to turn the radio on it wouldn't work ... and to hear the sales person say will for a fee of 10.00 dollars a month you can use the Ford/Pontiac or what ever company's radio ... No why we the people would not stand for it.. So why do we the people allow them to lock our phones... They don't have the right but yet because WE have not taken a stand and demanded that something be changed.. The cell phone company's are to give us the services of being able to make calls and with the new technogle we have also give us access to the internet.. they do not have the right to restrict our phones but because no one has filed a class action law suite to make them change this they will continue to do this for no other reason then because they can.. EVERY ONE NEEDS TO make a STAND AND FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS... I Dont think the phone companys should even be part of the cell phone makers group.. LG / Nokia / Black Berry / Samsung / and all the others should make the phones and sale them not the Cell Phone company's but I believe that they Cell phone company's has spent lots of money to keep the Phone makers from being able to do this which in turn because VZW has a nice little logo on the phone that says Verizon on it that they can do anything they want to the phone because what this is doing is putting the cell phones under custom vendor product which gives them the right to remove or disable what ever they want.. and they because we can not pay from the MF of the phones they have us where they want us ....... If every one takes a stand on this then the Government would have to do something about it.. OK about ICON's and things .. what colors would you like ...? what type of Icons would you like to see changed? Also just some food for thought but if we could get it to where Open Source projects are excepted in the cell phone market just like the PC market then we could get everything we want with out VZW having a word about it.. ALSO ABOUT FIRMWARE... LG makes the base firmware which includes Linux mobile .. Brew run's on top of this and the apps on the phone like the DIALER, BROWSER, VZ NAVIGATOR, THE CAMERA/VIDEO program and any others like Mobile TV AND IM app are done through VZW.. VZW has the programs made for them and then have LG put them in the FIRMWARE.. which this makes all of those apps protected and the rights Belongs to VZW.. so you can not make any changes to any of this stuff.. But any way this is way LG states that VZW has the last word.. Since the phones are branded this makes it VZW's Phone which means they have the right to do WHAT EVER they want to them... Just like the TIVO DVR's and Direct TV DVR's.. the hardware is yours you paid for it so it's yours the thing is the software is not so in order to get out of this MISS that the cell phone company's has created is for us to start an open source projected where company's Like LG and Samsung would have to star making phones like PC's are made where Open source projects could be started which would give us better OS systems that are more secure and unrestricted.. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY So any have any ideas as to how to get this Started?? any of you Lawyers? or Programmers? any of you have media ties? It's going to take every one working together to make a change .. and it's time best regards

First of all, I'd like to point out to those requesting a zoom for the camera, you shouldn't use the zoom anyways since it's digital and you'll get a big loss of picture quality. You're better off taking the picture with the highest resolution then using computer software to digitally zoom it if you need to, as you'll get better results that way. Also, to the person who requested a delete key in the calculator, the clear button (between Send and End) does this. I also have several things I personally would like to see changed/added, some of which have been already mentioned: -WiFi. It's ridiculous how many phones are out there with 3g, EDVO, etc yet do not have WiFi. It's just assumed we'll use the internet through the tower. Well, what about when we don't have signal but still have access to a wireless network. I can definitely see Verizon taking this away from us to force us to use, and pay for, their network when we need to get online. This is unacceptable. -The animation with the magnifying glass zipping through the letters when opening the address book needs to go away. It just wastes time, making the user have to wait for it to finish before being able to click a letter. -Ability to add folders under My Pictures. -Speech to text dictation for texting, notepad, calendar events, etc. -Arrow keys for finer cursor control when typing, maybe in a popout menu. -Daily alarm scheduler, to allow for different alarm times each day of the week. -More than 10 people per contact group. This one is ridiculous. I think it's safe to say most people have more than 10 friends and 10 relatives. -Ability to delete contact groups. This may be possible already and I just don't know how, but if it is, it's far from obvious. -Support for (many) more numbers per contact. Again, this is ridiculous. It's unacceptable for a "smart phone." I could store more numbers per contact on my old, very basic, no frills Nokia. -Alarm 30 minute prior to event option, as well as an "other" option to enter any amount of time. -Option to remember flash and other settings for camera. -Faster shutter speed or image stabilization. -Flashlight tool using the camera flash, instead of needing to go into camcorder mode and record something just to use the flash as a light. -Ring volume scheduler, to automatically set to vibrate during working/school hours and back to normal after. -Vibrate level setting, to make vibrate stronger or weaker. -Always show time, while in browser, GPS, texting, etc. -Automatically return to GPS with last destination or browser with last page viewed after making or receiving a call while using them. -Scrollable list of upcoming events to allow for a quick schedule overview over the next month or so. -Make links and text boxes are easier to click on in the browser. -Ability to set default for vibrate on/off when adding a new event. -Ability to select text by clicking and dragging, instead of having to click clear repeatedly. -When replying to a text, go straight to text entry. There's no reason to go to the "Touch Here" screen, since a recipient doesn't need to be entered, as it's a reply. -Fix Auto Thumbnail setting in the browser. It's constantly popping up when I don't want it to and not working when I want it to. These are more bugs than feature requests: -In weekly calendar view it is impossible to scroll up or down without selecting a day and displaying it. -Can't do a hard return when entering a calendar event. I realize this may be a waste of time, as I don't expect Verizon to implement many, if any, of these. They've already shown quite clearly what they think of their customers and what we should receive for our money. I very strongly agree with the sentiment of so many others here: We paid a lot of money for a phone that should have been great, but has been severely handicapped by Verizon to the point of being a ripoff. I love the phone, but it just doesn't have the capabilities I need or expected to receive for the level of technology it represents and the amount of money I spent on it and am spending on my plan. This is totally unacceptable behavior by Verizon and between this and a recent billing issue I had with them, I am very close to just paying the termination fee and being done with them forever. If the Dare does not receive an update within the next couple months providing much of the missing functionality, I'll just find a carrier/phone combination that does give me what I need, and hopefully others will too, as well as telling other people to do the same. Verizon needs to learn the hard way how to treat their customers, since they obviously don't know and don't care to know. I just hope that even if they don't listen, other companies out there that do care about their customers, and therefore about staying in business, happen upon this thread and learn the kinds of features cell phone users are looking for.

okay how bout fixing the texting... try this: create a new message, or click reply start typing with the word setting turn your phone so keyboard comes up (don't hit the keyboard button) then turn it back to the regular way.... try typing again and hit next...b/c when you hit next 0's come up like your phone is in abc mode.... this becomes wicked annoying after like three mins...also i've had 6 phones since may of 09...and the first time it broke was the first phone i've ever had to return....

LGProductPro.. isn't answering any more because they Discontinued the Dare.. Today I went to the VZW store because I was going to check out getting a new skin for the phone and when i went to the store to check on getting a skin for the phone , what do you know their was no Dares so i asked one of the sales people why their was no Dares out for Display and she said that they no longer care or support the Dare that they would still take care of the phone under warranty and that's it.. best regards

I do not know how I lost this thread. Sorry guys! Firmware updates are released to older phones all the time. In fact in some smaller markets the Dare will be sold as new for quite some time. I wish I had more information for everyone. In reference to firmware updates I don't have the information until after it is launched. The final stamp of approval comes from Verizon Wireless. I know that both companies vaule their customers and do not want to set false expectations for consumers. We dont want people to buy a device expecting a certain upgrade and then disappoint them if it doesn't happen. LG does take info from this forum to help with updates, so your feedback is very important to us. I am gonna take a look at those Verizon forum threads and see if there is any info I can get at all to release to you. Thanks for being in the LG family. We will work hard to keep you..

Well verizon hasn't said anything at all regarding the release of firmware v07. If you go to a verizon store the associates don't have a clue whether or not if they're going to release it. From what I have seen the LG Dare has been forgotten since verizon discontinued the phone. And the suggestions Dare owners are asking for has been implemented in the lg versa, lg enV touch, and the soon to come lg chocolate. It would really be a suprise if another firmware would be released for the Dare.

Such bizarre timing. Verizon locks out their forum, the Dare gets discontinued, MobileRoar freezes up (home of probably the most active Dare forum online), and LG is left hanging out to dry with the rest of us. All within DAYS of each other! Verizon employees have no idea about the Dare firmware upgrade or even when the Chocolate Touch will be released. What is going ON???

Hey Chief. I agree it is bizarre what's going on with verizon. I do believe there are plenty of Dare owners across the nation that feel the same way we do here and verizon is trying to shut it down. I wouldn't be surprise when the Moblie Roar website start functioning properly again and Dare forum is removed. I might check out lg-dare.com website and see what's up with them. LG product pro...is it any possible way to make flash available for the Dare since I've read here in this forum that the Dare has it built in...just that verizon didn't want it to work for the phone.?

Look, the only 2 features I would like to see added are related to security/phone locking. I can live with everything else about the phone. The first feature is some sort of a 2-button-combo unlock function versus the current single press to unlock the phone. This would eliminate my frequent unintended "butt" calls to friends and my being charged for data fees while unintentionally activating some web service/function. The second feature is a real "lock" button or quick 2-button combo press that locks the phone, then requires the security password before unlocking. Either one of these 2 important features would make mine's and a lot of other Dare users' lives much easier.

@ LGProductPRo Do you not have any inside contacts? You to agree that what VZW has done is Wrong .... Don't answer that I know you can not due to the fact that they are your customer. But either way they truly are showing their true colors ------- Exp.. of this is Telus is part of VZW --- Telus has the Java enabled and VZW disabled it.. Could you not find some contacts with in LG that we the END Users could contact to get something done.. even though VZW is LG's customer ..... The True Customer of LG is us ... we are the people that buy and use the products so you would think that LG would like to make sure we are happy with our products.. The biggest problem i have with all of this is the fact that the phone can do so much more then what VZW is letting it do and charging so much for this.. Can LG justify the Price Tag on this phone in the state that its in ???? Really I just don't understand this and this is the main reason most of us is upset... and still can not get any answers. I know that LG could release things that would allow the phone to work as designed. One person with in LG said that LG designs the phones based on customer request but if your designs are based on customer request then way are you running contest to come up with new phones? All LG has to do is give us a way to modify firmware ... I mean allow us to create our own firmware .. Is this to much to ask for ... really If we wait for VZW to release the firmware we will be here waiting for ever and still not get what we desire.. I have been told that VZW was not going to release any firmware for the Dare .. This came form VZW sales team which could be wrong because i also was told that they would still release firmware even though VZW discounted the Dare.. Maybe you can confirm this for us.... Giving the fact that the Firmware should have been released by now it seems that the Sales Team that said they would not be releasing Firmware was correct.. Also VZW said they would be allowing Java but after reading a E-mail that one of the Sales Team showed me .. That VZW is full of it and only the phones they call smart phones will be able to use Java which this is already true so their was need for VZW to say they was going to allow Java in their handsets ... It seems that VZW likes to Practice lying to the Public all the way up the ladder ... No wonder way when i bought my phone the sales people told me it had Java and Full web Browser.. I have already posted link to the Suns conference where VZW made the announcement that they would embrace Java in their phones.. If you don't want to post any response to this that's fine ... YOU can PM me with your response As you can see through out my Post I never give Names of the source of info... Save your company from being put in the same list as VZW where The end user does not matter.. Think about it they must have took extra time on making sure that customizing your phone was impossible.. The only thing you can really customize is the web browser and then you have to be able to modify the Firmware and have a to load it on the phone .. which then you void your warranty on the phone and all other graphics for menus and so forth is hidden with in the firmware to keep people from being able to get to them to change.. Which i understand that somethings has to do with Memory but most other phones are easy to customize .. In fact I can not believe that VZW did this to their firmware just because of the fact that they like to make things that people want and make them pay for it but the way this firmware is they can not easily make new themes for phone either which I could see them trying to sale to make even more money.. this seems to be the issue for all LG phones that VZW sales... so who really makes the part of the Firmware where it controls the look of the app's.. I mean the phone uses Brew so why not make the Icon's and Images into a Bar file and make a program that would allow user to pic and choose or load customized images... This program could resize any image to make sure the file size is correct and make the Bar file ... Then you could have the app able to connect to phone and load new Images... Is this to make to ask for .. Really any good programmer could have an App done in a day that could do all of this but wait they did not make the GUI this way did they ... they use Flash for this but they want let the browser which can use flash not be able to .... I would like to see the way the screen is locked changed to be a motion rather than a single touch. Also an update to the browser couldn't hurt, like tabbed browsing maybe? And finally I would like to see threaded messaging. That's about it. I am sure that there are other things to change but this would really make me happy. I love the Dare. It does most of what I need it to do and it does it well. LGProductPro, is there anyway that we can get some answers on whether on not there will be a firmware update for the Dare? There has to be someone that you can talk to and find something out. They kept giving out updates for the Voyager even past the end, so why not the Dare? Thanks for anything that you can do to help. We would just like to get some answers if we could.

I am with you Jo-Dawg, where is this talk coming from? Is it coming from LG? Verizon? or the forums? I would really like to know what is going on. I think that an update is overdue for this phone. There is a lot that I like about it but there are some issues that I know should be fixed. I would like to see some upgrades as well. They have done that with the Voyager, why not the Dare?

Well I am really close to just letting the hope go for any type of support from either LG or Verizon on the Dare since it has been discontinued. I guess that I was still holding on to that last little bit of hope that maybe we Dare owners would get a phone update that should have come out long ago. Hopefully one still shows up but I for one am not holding my breath.

Let's face it. The Dare has been abandoned by LG. As you can see the things we wanted on the Dare are on other phones that are out now (LG EnV Touch, LG Chocolate). If there was another firmware update it would have came out by now and since verizon kicked the Dare to the curb the chances of you working for ferrari is greater than another firmware update coming out for the Dare. So Dare owners enjoy the phone to the fullest. Use the phone to its full capabilities as I am with mine.

It's 1/22 and about a week ago or so I was in a Verizon store having a conversation with the store manager. He went on as though there was a very good chance that v7 would be released. Wouldn't share much at all but talked as though it was going to be released. Said to look on PhoneScoop, which I have, and have found nothing. I'm pressed him pretty hard as I've had a Dare since 1/09 and upgraded in Feb to v6 of the f/w. Wish I had more info. He gave me a pretty clear feeling something was coming and he thought it would be worthwhile for Verizon. Anyone know of anything?

The Skins look great! They don't look like they would provide any protection against dropping or being bumped, but might provide some protection against scratches... I think they're main function is to look cool.

It looks like Ver '06' is the latest version and that was released in Jan of this year. Since then Verizon has made the decision to retire the Dare or(EOL End Of Life) To be honest the older the phone gets the less likely it is to get updated, especially EOL phones.
I appreciate your loyalty and dropping back here to give us another chance. I'm sorry I didn't have better news... The Dare is one of my favorite Verizon phones...
I hate to see you leave Verizon and the Dare. Let me know if there is anything I can do in the future.
