I've seen it said on the forums that to get a custom ringtone on your Sprint cellphone, you send yourself a PM (picture message) and attach an audio file. But on the Lotus, I find there is no option to make such an attachment. If I select an MP3, it is denied and the error is that a JPG or GIF file is required.
I have sent an e-mail to my Lotus phone with an MP3 attachment and I can play it, but there is no means to save it. I don't understand!
However, if I go to a website that specializes in sending a text message with an attachment, like pcs.cruz-network.net, it works. I receive a text message with an MP3 attachment and I can save it. OK, so it works... but the process is painfully slow. I want to load several dozen files... is there an easier way to do this??

One other thing--if I browse my SD card and opt to "SEND" an MP3 file I've highlighted, the options are BlueTooth or E-mail. Again, the e-mail will result in an attachment I can listen to but not save onto the phone. Bluetooth obviously is external to the device... the target is the phone internal memory!

I don't know of any other way to get custom ringtones to your Lotus other than to purchase them.

Really? Because you can... by going to a website that allows you to send a text message with an attachment... and if that attachment is an MP3 you can save it as a ringtone on the phone.
However, if you send yourself an e-mail, the only thing the phone will allow you to do is save it on your SD card, in the "music" folder.

I understand the point you are making. However, if it isn't supported by LG then I cannot guarantee the files. And if you can't do this using traditional methods then I can only assume they've implemented some sort of "work around".

Actually, I had an error in my previous statement. You do not receive an attachment with a text message. It is a link back to the sending source to download the attachment. With e-mail, I believe it is a physical attachment that is included, but you can't save it to the phone.
