The speakerphone feature of my lg p509 Optimus T has an echo / feedback that is effecting to the person I am talking with (they are hearing themselves). Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? I've already traded in the origional phone due to this issue, but the second is having the same issue. They do not complain about the echo when not using speakerphone or when I use the handsfree headset. Wifi, gps and bluetooth are turned off and there are no additional android applications installed.

Do you know what version of Firmware you have in the Optimus right now? You can find this by going to the Home Screen and then ro Settings>> About Phone>> at the very bottom of the display will be a heading "SW Version" it will be the last 3 Characters below that.

I have seen some Breaking up of the audio on the callers end unless you hit Mute... But I haven't seen the Echoing on the SpeakerPhone for the Optimus... I have reported this, and I will let you know if I find anything else out...

The software version is LG-P509-v10h. It's definately echo/feedback. I even called T-Mobile and the representative made mention of it. The sound quality of the speakerphone in general is acceptable. Thanks for your reply.

Ver "10L" od the latest version... I would go to the Settings> About Phone>> Software Update>> Check for Update.. Let's see if this will initiate the update. Once you get the update try the phone again to see if it resolves the Echoing.

Unfortunately, T-Mobile hasn't made the update available yet. I have been looking for updates everyday since the phone was released ...

I am experiencing this same issue. Software version V10h. I love the phone but I tend to use the speakerphone a lot and this issue definitely gets in the way. Otherwise amazing product.

The Update is out there and you should be receiving it.... One Issue I did see with one user is that T-Mobile's System didn't have his phone Idetified correctly (LG Optimus) so the system didn't know to send the update.... I don't think this is common, but you might check with support and make sure they have you set up as using the Optimus...

I have noticed that sometimes the new data SOC and OTA updates won't go into affect until the IMEI is updated in T-Mobile's system. As an employee, you may try calling Special Account Care to update the IMEI and perhaps try updating your sim card to a new UICC sim card. Hope this helps!

Just got our LG Optimus phone yesterday and it also has the speakerphone issue. With the speakerphone off, the calls are normal. With the speakerphone on, the person at the other end gets echos when they talk. The update was installed, butthere was no improvement. We use a speakerphone frequently, so this issue is more than just an inconvenience. We hope LG has a fix for this soon.

I am looking into this issue... What I am seeing is that the Audio is breaking up when the other party talks... It's a little inconvanient, but what I do is Mute the phone until I need to speak and then it works pretty well.... I will continue to dig into this for a real solution.

Thx for the reply and follow up on the issue. We have only the LG Optimus Tfor a smartphone and that is the wife's. I think she will probably return the phone for another or different company if that issue is not resolved. There must be lots out there that have this issue that have not surfaced on the internet. Thx for your effort.

I have the same issue with the speakerphone. I gave up my Cliq XT for this phone because of Android 2.2. The only good thing about that phone was the speakerphone. I did have a LG Chocolate 3, and that speakerphone did have better quality. Hopefully a fix comes soon. Otherwise, great phone. I do have the version 10L update with no problems.

LG Product Pro, have you been able to find a solution? Speakerphone is still a problem. I'm on my third handset with the same issue ...

No I'm still trying to push on this... I found my issue was related to the Cell Tower in the area, and now I can reliably reproduce it... I did talk with an Engineer in the midwest and he was certain it was a Tower issue. I was all set to send my handset to him for testing but now it doesn't demonstate the behavior...

I have the same issue with the speaker phone. I called t-mobile and the rep told me she has no reports of anyone else having this issue. I updated the firmware and it didn't help the rep said it might be the sim card so I got a new one it did not help. last night went into network setting and changed it to gsm only and after that i didn't have the problem. It was just last night so it could just be a coinsidence if I have anymore problems this phone is going back

I can safely say that if the T-Mobile rep said the above, they LIE (they told me the same thing every time I spoke with them too). I have called them repeatedly since the phione was release in regards to this issue. Call them with the speakerphone activated so they experience the issue and keep returning it so there is a record. They seem to lose paperwork documenting each phone swap so keep receipts. T-Mobile sent me an myTouch 3g 3.5mm ... told me it was a android 2.2 phone ... it came as 1.6 with no available firmware update to froyo (and wasn't able to sync with EAS) ... so I'm still using the LG with the defective speakerphone.

i have this same problem on Optimus One P500, caller on other end can hear themself when you use speakerphone, problem is it comes through very distorted almost to the point of feedback experienced when you get a microphone to close to a speaker.
makes it almost impossible to use this feature, very frustrating ! otherwise great phone...
