Spectrum and ICS

OK, i updated my phone to 2.3.6 and is this just a stepping stone to get to 4.0 or is that it, and the spectrum wont get ICS. It feels like this device was built for the 4.0 platform but where is the platform.

    This is a laughable state of affairs. When I bought the phone I was assured by the guys at the Verizon store that this phone would be getting ICS, then it was 1st half of 2012, now, who knows.

    I'll never buy another LG phone again. And Verizon will probably lose me as a customer come renewal time. We, the customer, have come to expect this kind of crap behavior both from manufacturers and especially the phone companies, but maybe it's time we stopped doing that and let them have it where it hurts them, the wallet, since they don't care about anything else.

    • I agree, we've just got to be patient. I have and I wait. I've nothing but great customer service from Verizion.
    • No, the problem is that they made promises, or implied that it would be available in the first half of the year as a selling point of the phone, and in doing so, essentially tricked people into buying it and therefore trapping themselves in a new phone that is woefully out of date.

      Trickery is not acceptable, not even in business, and it saddens me that we Americans have become brainwashed to believe it is ok to do this kind of thing as long as they make money at it.

    Spectrum? And ICS? You believed that? There is no further profit for Verizon to gain by providing you with ICS they may get around to it by say..............2018.

    I recently swtiched from AT&T a few months ago because of price tag ons. Verizion's customer service has come above and beyond. I will wait for the software upgrade. I'm excited too. If your having battery issues with the LG Spectrum go to Verizion they replaced my battery free of charge. It's a known issue for the power.

    Nice of them to provide a replacement battery. I have had some good interactions with VZW customer support, and some not so good over the years. Mostly good. The coverage and stability of the service has been excellent.

    Its simply that
    a). getting a timely update to the phone that was advertised as a feature by both LG and VGW has been a great disappointment. I left Motorola and Sprint because of this kind of customer treatment.
    b). a realization that if you don't purchase phone insurance and there is a loss, they'll want you to pay a crazy amount for a new device, when that device is not that valuable compared to say an iPAD or a Notebook computer or a large flat screen TV.
    c). and if you should purchase a replacement device off eBay that is brand new and never activated, neither VZW nor LG will honor their warranty. Cough.
    d). we are not valued enough to be given an unambiguous and truthful answer to the question: what are they going to do for us considering they have falsely advertised a prominent device feature that was fundamental to our purchase decision.

    I can honestly say, I've been doing my part to give to LG and it's customer base, here and on VZW's forums. What poor advertising this very capable device and some of LGs other devices have gotten. I like the product.

    I've purchased two Spectrums.

    But the flip side of the equation - what has LG done for me (or you for that matter) is not so good. Contrary to 1linuxfreak's assertion - I get nothing special from LG, and I'm not expecting anything special really. I really dig it when companys treat customer loyalty so horrendously.

    If as Brian indicates, no status is known at this point, this doesn't speak very well for either company to deliver by the end of 3rd QTR. We are deserving of at the very least a straight answer - not something that might be announced 1 day before it is made available or a decision not to make ICS available is reached.

    That is fundamentally the wrong and shameful way to treat customers.

    Here is context and input from a colleague of mine regarding the LG Spectrum VZW update. I copied it from another post within our forum and it seemed to help a few of our LG Forum users. I hope this helps:

    Boo OTA issues! LOL. Ok, so plug your phone into a PC thru USB. You should get an autorun pop up box momentarily. Make sure you run the file (tl_bootstrap.exe). That will install the drivers and VZW Software Update Assistant for LG devices. This is the program that will update your device for you.

    And yes, you need to have USB mode to Internet - Ethernet.
