The EnV Touch vx11kv09

As I am an EnV Touch owner I would like to see the phone excel in many different ways. I would like this forum to be a discussion on what should be fixed/added in the new software v09 or even v10. One thing that I would very much enjoy on the EnV Touch is a full virtual Qwerty keyboard in portrait mode (vertical), instead of T9/ABC mode. I do enjoy using the full virtual Qwerty keyboard in landscape mode (horizontal), but sometimes one hand is not available to text, therefore I am stuck using T9/ABC. I do understand that there are many problems with T9, and if the EnV Touch had a full virtual Qwerty keyboard in portrait mode it would fix many problems that T9 has, because it would be replaced. Thank you all for reading my suggestions to better the EnV Touch, and please add to this list.

    Whereas this is a great thought, it's unlikely that LG will be spending any more development time and $$ on the enV Touch, since the phone will be a year old in a couple of months (May) ... and is no doubt ending it's product life/support cycle. Further, considering the significant numbers of existing issues still unresolved, this seems even more unlikely ... I'm sad to say. But there may be good news. There will probably an enV Touch2 soon or some more state of the art variation that will fix these issues and and new features ... and you WILL ... want to spend the $$$ to get it. That's the business model these days. mx

    i doubt there will be an EnV Touch 2 anytime soon because a products life/support cycle is 2 years and the EnV Touch is not even 1 year old.

The polaris7 browser is much better to manipulate as far as settings but i cant report it's speed as i have poor signal at my home. All the hype about V08 is on the money but dont try to schmeg some sorta install.....go to the VZ store and have them do it. I yalked to tech rep and he said they have started to refuse people that have taken it on themselves to use the old LG DL. Take as you may but my official DL from the store works awesome.............

    Hey Jeffrey, When I talked to VZ tech and cust. support they had no clue. I told them to look up version 8 firmware for the LG Env touch and also said i was most interested in the polaris7 browser. Shaniqua (no I'm not kidding...seriously i really am not) said she would have to put me on hold for 1-2 min. I said no problem. She came back and said she was still looking into it and if i could hold for 5-6 min. I said sure!. Well she got back on the line and said that the V09 hit the VZ stores today!!! I was like V09?? she said yes it's version 09. I asked her where the nearest store to me was and she said (my local store) and asked if I'd like if she called ahead and confirmed if the DL/FUG was there. She again asked if i would hold for 1-3 min, again I said yes! Well long story short VZ has a typo in their system and V09 is actually the fixed V08 that bricked everyones phone! Get to your local store soon cuz its gonna get crowded for the upgrade! SERIOUSLY call VZ and you'll see it's true! AHHHHH V08 is here and it works!

    "V08 is here and it works!" Can you elaborate. What exactly is fixed? Also, not sure why anyone is wasting time talking with Verizon or LG tech support ... generally a big waste of time. Out of 8 VZN phone techs I spoke with since last May ... only one had any clue about anything and was actually able to solve a very specific problem. mx

    Well, for starters be informed. 1. Hit the web for ALL the info you can find. 2. ask open ended questions. 3. stay very calm. 4. when the rep has no info for you calmly ask for the supervisor. 5. Repeat your question V-E-R-Y slowly when he gets confused ask for customer service, repeat steps 1-5......no offense 2 you but it take alot pf patience to deal with verizon. I'm a fios custie and a VZW custie. between the two i spend about $450 a month......remember speak V-E-R-Y slowly......remember the call is free

    can somebody please tell me what the vx08 or vx09 fixes? I would really like to know before i walk into the store and everything on my phone is still the same, Meaning doing the same thing. Like the screen going black when there's an incoming call, i haven't had anymore problems with my screen changing colors, but i would like to know if that fixes one of the many problems. And does it fix the T9 not keeping the words that you type on a regular basis. If it fixes those problems please let me know so i can get to the store asap. thanks

    I updated my EnV Touch yesterday at the Verizon Wireless store, and it does show that it has Polaris7 as the browser.

    Successfully applied VX11KV09 update to my enV Touch. Total elapsed time 20:52. LGUSBModem driver 4.9.7 LG Mobile Support Tool version 1.0.1.7 Windows XP SP3 4GB RAM Remove microSD. Turn VX11000 phone off. Leave battery in.

    right i also would like to know before i waste time gong in to get this update besides the browser which i hardly use, does it correct the blank screen that is so frustrating when your start to make a call and cant get it to come bk on, without hanging up the phone can making the call again or opening up the phone, does it correct the headset problem that the phone seems to be having when using bluetooth its like the thing goes mute, i have to hang up three or four times just to be able to get it to hear in my head set and this is phone number 5 and the problem has been the same on all the other phones, does it do anything with the battery life, i have an extended battery and with out using it at all i have to charge the stupid phone every other day its very very frustrating and i'm ready to throw the phone. this would make the trip to the vzw store to get this update well worth it.thanks

    The v09 software has already been released. I had it installed Friday night (3-10-2010) at a Verizon corporate store. This release has a new browser (not sure if it was in 08 - if there really was a 08?) ... Polaris7. Sadly, at least two of the very repeatable bugs I and others identified have not been addressed or fixed (almost 1 year later), which are: 1) Calendar alerts *always* occur approx 24 hrs in advance of the scheduled event, no matter what the Alert time is set to, rendering the calendar function almost useless in my opinion. 2) When you use the wall charger (as opposed to charging via USB), the lcd screen remains in the grayed out mode (as opposed to OFF) during the entire charging cycle, for example ALL night long. This completely boggles my mind! This does not occur when charging via usb. mx

Again it would be nice to know what issues were addressed. While I had V08 installed I did notice some random shutdowns-hope that's been corrected in V09-We'll see.

    Good luck with that... LG for some reason doesn't think it's relevant or important to let the consumers know who bought their product what these software updates include. Almost every other cell phone maker that I know of when they release a software update lets people know what is is fixing, adding, and improving upon. Not LG though... It's a secret.....

    Wherein I like the enV Touch as a phone, since it does texting and voice calls (duh) very well ... which is why I bought it, this will be my first and last LG phone, because I am totally unimpressed with LG as a company, I'm sad to say. Their phone support is terrible, and this giant secrecy regarding what has been fixed in firmware updates is totally unacceptable! It's a perfect example of the sad state of customer service in the USA. mx
