V21Y for the G2x...Message received

6 months after the G2x updates to gingerbread we get an incremental bug fix? Yeah...that's the writing on the wall for me and LG.

Please pass on to your engineering organization that there is a concept called Continuous Sustaining Development (CSD). It entails supporting your customers that have purchased your products in the hopes that they will continue to purchase your products in the future based on the support they received.

I honestly don't know how your company can think the customer experience with the G2x has been acceptable. At least you have shown me that realistically, there will be no ICS update before my contract with this phone expires next April. At this time, I will be taking my business to Samsung.

Thanks for the feedback Langdawg. I've been with G2x since day one and I feel your frustration. I just want you to know that EVERY post in this forum is read and the important information is passed along and escalated. The activity and feedback happening here does make a difference!
I know the update is not ICS, but I hope it serves you well and feel free to leave us feedback about your experience with it.

I have no doubt that you are doing your best to communicate the feedback of the community. But I don't have faith that it is making a difference. The track record of this device speaks for itself.

The update makes the phone work better...no doubt about it. In my opinion, it merely makes the phone perform like it should have from day 1. Had the phone been performing like this over the past year, I might not be as jaded. However, it hasn't. For a flagship phone, it has been subpar to say the least.

So my feedback to you is yes, the update is stable and working...and it is too little too late. I won't be repeating my "mistake". When my contract ends, me, my wife, and my daughter will be using a different brand of phone. It's as simple as that.

Absoutely agreed. I, too, bought several p999s at full retail. I feel misled by LG's marketing. I feel strung-along and cheated by LGs lack of support for these devices.

Brian, we have followed your calculated words of "excitement" on this forum through 14 months of waiting. Purchasing an LG Mobile product has been a terrible experience, one I won't repeat.

The update fixed nothing. My phone still crashes most of the time I try to install or upgrade an application. As I'm sure you''ve heard before, I'm never buying an LG phone again and I'll probably think twice before I buy any other LG products.

Add me to the list who will jump ship to another brand. My phone is very slow and lags despite having a limited number of apps installed. It randomly will turn itself off at least 3 times a week.

The appalling lack of communication and outright lies by management in regards to updating my G2X is inexcusable. The problem is I am stuck with this thing until my contact with T-Mobile is up.

Brian--perhaps you should pass onto whomever 'escalates' anything that if management were to actually COMMUNICATE honestly with customers or give any information at all, there would be less anger and frustration.

You might consider running a program like Advanced Task Manager Free and moving every possible app from internal phone memory to the SD card. Also run a program like 1Tap Cache cleaner and clean all cache's and histories. Reboot the phone.

Another possibility (as I saw this in GB on a Motorola phone I had) - over time, it would accumulate .ALOG files and those files grew in size quite appreciably.

There were only two ways to get rid of these. One was to root your device, use a file explorer program with root privs, and manually delete them from internal memory. The other option, was to perform a Factory Data Reset. It's possible if you Google, someone wrote a script to do the deleting for you, but I think you still need a rooted device, which would void your warranty.

At least try the first recommendation and see is it improves the G2X operability and performance. I don't think GB was great on memory management, regardless of manufacturer / device.

Mpust, both stock ROMs and G2x are riddled with problems and idiosyncrasies. LG has been distancing itself from these phones since day one. For shame.

You'd be wasting your time with task managers.

IME the _only_ way to have a _completely_ stable G2X is to root it, install plain vanilla CM7, and check "stay awake" in settings/app/dev.

If you decide to do this & wish to use bluetooth devices for call audio, you must make sure to be using an older baseband version (v20e).

Detailed instructions are found over at xda. Unfortunately further development by talented and well-meaning folks has been completely hamstrung by LG and Nvidia. It's a depressing lesson.

If you want 2.3.4 and BT calling is a dealbreaker, settle for the latest official ROM (still making sure to "stay awake" during charging) and resign yourself to manually rebooting the phone as often as possible. This will minimize the hiccups freezes and unexpected reboots.

I'm sorry. It's been two long years.
