Yes you will need the driver in order to charge your phone through the USB port... You can find it here on this site at: http://www.lgcommunity.com/file_libra...
In the "File Library" locate the "Drivers" folder and download the LGUSBModemDriver_Eng_WHQL_Ver_4.9.4_All.exe file and run the file.

I followed these instructions. The install worked fine, Windows recognizes the LG port and it seems to be working but not sure what program to use to upload my contacts since BitPim does not support the 5600 yet. Any suggestions? Is there a Verizon or LG program to do the same thing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You might try a utility called "SyncCell" to see if that will support the VX5600, it's a good contact syncing utility... For pictures, You're best bet is to email or Txt them to an email address until BitPim supports the Accolade.

I uploaded pictures from my LG-VX5600 cell phone to my PC using BitPim 1.0.7. I used the USB/power cable that came with the phone. Manually set BitPim's phone type to LG-VX9100. This worked for Wallpaper, Ringtones, Calendar and SMS. It did not work for the Phonebook or Call History. I tried all other LG phones listed and could not get any of them to upload the Phonebook. I also did not get Bluetooth to work in BitPim, but getting Name Cards over bluetooth with the phone and my PC works.

No idea why LG provides a "modem driver", or why Verizon has no appications for data transfer while suggesting that a data cable might be used in the phone micro USB port. An LG Community Forum item suggests that the free "V Cast Media Manager" utility could transfer pictures and videos between VX5600 and a PC. Have not tried to find it yet.

Fancy that! I thought V CAST Media Manager was a pay service! I downloaded and installed it and it really works, for free! Here's more details I found out: With the VX5600, only pictures are supported, not music. I downloaded it from the link posted above. I took 15 minutes to download with my 1Mbps Verizon Mobile Broadband EVDO-A service. It took over an hour to install. Most of this was during install of 7 device drivers. (Watch for hidden windows awaiting your response: minimize every window, then move the install window to reveal hidden window) Initial install was version 1.5.0.1555, but this would not detect my VX5600 phone. Then did update within V CAST Media Manager, from its Help menu. New version still took 15 minutes to download, but less time to install (it only did 5 device drivers and no hidden windows) Second install is now version 1.5.0.1585 and it automatically detected my VX5600 phone. I don't see any COM ports or devices to select, or any other way connect to phone other than "Scan for Devices" from the File menu. This is a great alternative to having to select LG-VX9100 in BitPim. However, V CAST only does pictures. If you want Music, Calendar or SMS; BitPim will do. Hope this helps for others out there! It recognizes the Accolade and even reports it's Firmware version (VX560V03)... But it will only transfer Pictures and not Music.

First I would like to say this should not be this hard but I have found it is. I to was having the same problem getting my pictures to the computer from the LGvx5600. By blogging this problem I found you could use vcast manager. No one at the verizon store said this to me. They said just put the usb and plug it in. . You all know that is not true. I have used vcast and my phone was not recognized at first. I then turned the phone over with it plugged into the computer and all of the sudden it recognized it. I don't understand what that is about but it worked. So whenever it doesn't recognize it I turn it over. Bitpin also didn't work until I jiggled the cord from phone to computer and then it recognized it. I can only see pictures can't do anything else on bitpin. Thanks to everyone on here for your help

Your phone wasn't recognized until you flipped it over? Yeah that sounds like the USB Cable not making a good connection somewhere, so just moving it caused the reconnection. If just wiggling it connects the phone, I'd watch the port and the USB connection to see if it's a bad cable or port.

I'm a new user of the LG VX5600 who also could not get the PC link to work. Verizon support advised that I download their communications program, V CAST Media Manager, which I did. After installing, Media Manager still was unable to connect with my Accolade. Back to Verizon support. Luckily I was connected to a very helpful tech who was also unable to get their recommended setup to work with a 5600 on his end. He apologized and said I would hear back from them in a few days. About a week later, a new version of Business Manager showed up in my inbox with no explanation. I went ahead and installed it - and the PC link worked (of course, only with photos, as advertised). Now here is what's odd - the new working version does not list the Accolade VX5600 as one of the supported models, as did the original version, which did not work. It lists the LG VX9100 and a lot of other 9xxx models, along with a bunch of other manufacturers models, but not the 5600??? Anyway, it works with the 5600, using the included USB/power-supply cable, but only if you use a USB connector on the back of the PC. Luckily I remember seeing this requirement buried somewere in a FAQ in the HELP section. That FAQ also listed a number of other necessary supporting programs that were already on my PC (fortunately) - whether or not they are all necessary, I don't know. Good luck, I hope it works for you.

I just received a notice that an update of V Cast Media Manager is now available, and I downloaded it. The new version now includes the LG Accolade VX5600 in the set-up file for the original VX9100 - 9xxx and other phones. Apparently Verizon finally realized the old set-up file they were using for the 5600 was not working for the PC/picture link. Be sure to download the new Media Manager update, and yous should now be able to easily download photos from your LG Accolade phone to your PC.

But I have hit an issue, I am not able to download ringtones or wallpaper to the phone (LG-VX5600 accolade.) The icon to download never lights up. I have read through the BitPim instructions, but do not see anything explaining how to transfer everything back besides that the button should just "light up" and you click it.
Any expanded explination on this would be appreciated.

A removable memory card such as an SD would be a great solution - if the Accolade 5600 had a card slot, but it doesn't. I guess LG just wanted to save a few pennies - a real step backwards on their part. Thanks for trying to help, though.

I'm not sure why Verizon/LG decided to offer an entry level phone without a MicroSD card. You're probably right. They wanted to offer a very inexpensive phone to a group of customers they felt wouldn't take advantage of the Card Slot and so decided not to burden them with additional costs.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Can I jump in here with a different problem that is the same? I traded my Samsung Intensity in for a LG VX5600 to get larger keys. Excellent. But I have the same problem everyone notes, the PC to phone USB link won't allow me to upload photos to the PC. I tried to install Verizon Media Manager, but I have Windows 7 and it says, "Kid, Media Manager only works with 32 bit operating systems. Aborting installation." Then I tried BitPim and it didn't have the VX5600 listed. I read here that setting it to VX9100 is the answer to force a partial link. I will try that. But I am wondering if there has been any progress on a solution from LG in the form of a firmware update? Thanks.

The VX5600 is meant to be an entry level phone and has very little Data Support... It doesn't come with a MicroSD card slot which would normally be used to get your photos off of the phone...
LG doesn't have anything that will Sync Photos... There is a 3rd party solution called BitPim which has done it in the Past but it doesn't look like an update has been released in about 8 months.
The only solution I can think of is to email them or SMS them to yourself or someone else.

MisterURL RE your64 bit problem. Call Verizon Customer support and talk to someone in the tech support area. Point out their advertising says the VX5600 is capable of downloading to a PC. If the rep tries to brush you off, ask for a supervisor. If that doesn't work try again to get a more knowledgable tech person. If that doesn't work, write a letter to the president of Verision suggesting they remove the PC connectivity claim from their advertising, but be sure to be cordial and polite. It seemed to work for me and they finally included the proper setup file in their Media Manager program so it could link to my 32 bit computer.

I downloaded the LGUSBModemDriver_Eng_WHQL_Ver_4.9.4_All.exe file and like many of you wasn't able to get it to recognize my cell phone or to even show in my program file or on my desk top. It appeared (normal) in the devices and a considerable list of files were displayed in Windows Explorer where it was downloaded, but there wan't any .exe file among them. It did, however, allow my phone to charge via USB. So with TomH's advice, I downloaded V-Cast and was able to transfer pictures satisfactorily. My question: Is the LG Modem Driver necessary for V-Cast to function, or do these programs just have parallel functions? The V-Cast is a sizable file to download just to change wallpaper, which is all I wanted if for.

VCast media Manager is about the only way you'll be able to talk with the phone. So even though it's rather large in size, you'll need it to get pictures to and from your VX5600.

"My question: Is the LG Modem Driver necessary for V-Cast to function, or do these programs just have parallel functions? The V-Cast is a sizable file to download just to change wallpaper, which is all I wanted if for."
I found that I actually had to remove the LG modem driverbefore the V-Cast Media Manager program would work correctly. I had installed the LG modem driver beforeI found Media Manager, and my computer seemed to want to installmy VX5600as modem rather than using Media Manager to link to my PC when I plugged in the USB cable. I also found that only the USB ports on the back ofmy PC worked with Media Manager and allowed me to download pictures from the VX5600 (just as noted in one of the Media Manager FAQs). I wasted a lot of time trying to use a USB port on the front of my PC before I found that FAQ. Also, whether or not you need all of the "required" support programslisted in the FAQsto already be installed on your PC, I don't know - they were already on my 32 bit PC - butnot having them alsomight be the reason a lot of folks are having problems linking theirphones to their PC's. Also note that Media Manager does not yet link with 64 bit PCs. It turned out to be quite a struggle for me to getmy 5600 linked to my PC (especially since the original set-up file for the VX5600 supplied with Media Manager did not work).I hope my comments are helpful - good luck.

Well a little update, more like Vcast updated their program, and the VX5600 is no longer listed, and Verizon downloaded something onto my phone so BitPim is blocked from accessing my phone. So I now have pictures that I cannot download. :mad And they did not give me a choice in updating it, when I hit cancel, it would shut down Vcast.
So now what do I do?
And I still ahve not found a way to install ringtones. :cry

Well after searching through the web, I was found a post on another forum about how to load ringtones to your phone using BitPim:
-------------------------------------------------------------
1. Visit http://www.lgforum.com/resources to download a driver that will allow your LG phone to connect to your computer via a USB cable.2. Download "BitPim 1.0.7" from sourceforge.3. Connect your phone to your computer. (Steps 3 and 4 may be interchangeable.)4. Start BitPim.5. Go to Edit->Settings to bring up the BitPim Settings window.6. Click Phone Wizard to bring up Phone Model Setting window.7. Choose Verizon Wireless, LG, LG-VX5500. Note, that is a V in there and not an L, which looks similar in the list.8. Click Next to bring up Communication Port Setting window.9. For the port, select the one that says LGE CDMA USB Serial Port (in my case ÛÒ COM4).10. Click Next to bring up Summary window.11. Click Finish to come back to BitPim Settings window.12. Click OK to close BitPim Settings window and return to BitPim window.13. Choose View->View Filesystem.14. On the folder tree (left) pane, you'll see a Filesystem folder and icon. Select this.15. On the subfolder tree (middle) pane, select +brew->+mod->18067.16. On the file (right) pane, youÛall see some ringtones (mid-files).17. From your computer, drag any mid- and/or mp3-files you want to 18067 subfolder on the middle pane. After that, you will see all these files on the right pane.18. Go to Data->Send Phone Data to bring up Send Data to Phone window.19. Check Ringtone and hit OK.20. All ringtones will be downloaded to your cell phone (Media Center ÛÒ Tune & Tones ÛÒ My Sounds).Good Luck!------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I tried this and I get an error message:
_____________________________________

Now my code reading is a little rusty, but the gist I am getting is that my BitPim is in Safe mode? Is there a way to get it out of safe mode?
BTW I was able to download my pics by following the above procedure and clicking on folder 10888 and right clicking on the picture name, save, and it will open a window so you can put it in a folder on your computer.
Still fighting to get Vcast to work with no success.

I just spent the entire evening working with BitPim and V CAST Media Manager, but as Tom says, apparantly Verizon took out the option for VX5600. None of the tricks, file formats, downloads, COM ports worked. No one told me I was buying an inferior model to my last phone. which had an SD card in it and I could transfer the photos easily. So, I am actually not at all pleased. At this point, I've texted the few photos I took to myself and will not use the photo feature unless I plan to send them to someone from my phone.

Even as an entry level phone. This modle sucks. We have to download sofeware after doing a long ass surch for it to charg the phone from a USB port. This software should have A) come with the phone or B) we should have been given the disk with the phone packege. We can't even transfur pic files off the phone to our computers derctly. No we have to texted them to an email address and if you are like me and on prepay that gets expensive fast. Also the day plains have no meaning if you are like me and in a roming area becouse not only do you get charged the day plan you also are geting charged roming rates. And you can not be taken off roaming becouse hay its a prepay. Quit frinkly LG gets an F-. This phone sucks and I would never recomened it to anyone.
If LG whants to help its custumers provid the software we need for the phone to charge and use the USB meda like it is suposted to. Or hell just give everyone who got tricked into buying this infera phone as an upgread a FREE UPGRADE to a better phone.

I just got the vx5600, and I have to admit that I'm quite disappointed that it seems so difficult/impossible to transfer things directly to and from the phone and computer. Specifically, I would like to be able to take photos directly off the phone into the computer, and get mp3 files to use as ringtones from the computer to the phone. In reading all the stuff about drivers, etc., it seems everything is geared to some Microsoft system, which I am not using (OSX 10.6.7 here). I don't want to use the phone for playing games, videos, etc., so it doesn't have to have too much capability. But it should be able to connect directly to get/send pix and mp3s. Did I get the wrong phone? Should I ditch it for something else?

You will need a MicroSD card for the phone. If you have a MicroSD card in the phone and plug the phone into the USB port, and then put the phone in to "Mass Storage" mode, it should mount as a removable drive like other usb drives on a Mac...

Unfortunately without a MicroSD there isn't a way to work with the internal memory of the phone, it's really meant as an entry level phone with very basic features...

I have read and attempted all of the above solutions for my Accolade LG VX5600, to no avail. I downloaded
Data Pilot 7 from CNet Download dot com.. It has a 7 day trial. Cost 19.95 or something got pictures from phone contacts etc.
Here is address. Hope it helps you guys and gals. I have worked on the transfer for about 5 days. Everything written here has happened to me too. Good luck

if you want to download pics from your LG VX5600 to your PC see 93nighthawk's 2/22/11 post on page 2 of this discussion. the key point is that BitPim supports the 5600 as a 5500. you'll find the same tip on verizon's forum:
http://community.vzw.com/t5/Messaging...
i'm a happy camper now, but what a hassle to get to this point. seems to me LG should provide a utiltity to accomplish this very basic task. what good is the camera if you can't transfer pics via the USB cable provided?

Werecan find the download forLGUSBModemDriver_Eng_WHQL_Ver_4.9.4_All.exe. It is not listed on the "Driver & Resources" or is LG USB Driver All 4.9.4.Zip a replacement.

4.9.7 is the latest USB Drivers and they are available in the Drivers & Resources Page on this site. They are in the Verizon section.

You'll still need something like DataPilot to be able to transfer files from the VX5600. I believe they have a 7 day trial so you can test compaibility.

The point of all the discussion here is this phone does not have an SD (or any other) card.

So as of Oct. 8, 2011, reading all the messages on this topic, it seems like my options for loading pictures from my phone to my pc are limited (I'm not concerned with Ringtones or Wallpaper). I just checked Verizon's Vcast and it doesn't show the Accolade VX5600 nor the 5500, so that confirms what93nighthawk said on Feb. 21, 2011.

I guess my options are:
1) Pay for each message to send them per Verizon's information. I suppose I could pay the $5 per mo. to add being able send/get 250 text/photo messages, but I don't do much texting and I don't use my phone that much for photos, so I'm not fond of adding to my monthly expenses....yeah, it's only 5 bucks, but my health insurance just went up $72 per month! After that, $5 does matter.....
2) Go the BitPim route per 93nighthawk's 2/22/2011 post, but that seems a bit daunting to someone who is not a tech geek. I suppose I could attempt to muddle through it........
3) Per stnkuttr's post of 5/6/2011, download Data Pilot from cnet.com and either just useit during the trial period or then pay the $19.95 to use it after that.
Do I also need to download the LG driver software to use the Data Pilot software?
Anybody else have any helpful info on this issue?
Thanks!
P.S. Why does it seem so simple when we are looking to buy some tech device/program, only to find that it ain't so simple after we bought it?!?!??! I'm asking this rhetorically, but it'd be nice to have a serious answer from LG and Verizon ~

Yes, unfortunately, I think your options are a little limited. It seems that VZ Manager used to work with the VX5600, I don't know why it doesn't any longer... The BitPim option is a little Technical and it hasn't been updated in almost 2 years. DataPilot seems like a good option, but it does cost $20.00 ... You're right it does have a 1 or 2 week trial period so you can at least test it to see if it's going to work for you... I think you will need the LG Driver installed as well.... I don't think it's included with DataPilot.

The VX5600 is a nice little phone, I don't know why it wasn't setup with Data Transfer in mind.

Humm... No, the enV2 should be able to play music without being activated. However you do need to put the music in a specific folder for the phone to find the music files. You will need to place your MP3 files into a folder named "My_Music" on your SD Card. If you place the files in this folder the music player should find them without a problem.

I think you have a decent answer from LG, this forum has great/helpful input from the moderator. Verizon however, I think they've hired Darth Maul. Bitpim is adiquite to get the photos off. I bought the LG because it is basic. I had a fancy smart phone and the data plan was a waste of money, the information access was wasting my time. Sure it was nice, but I have a computer to connect with. My phone is just to make calls if I need to. Follow the threads on using BitPim, then browse the folders and right click to save your photos. It's tedious, but it's free and it works. Honestly I thought the LG hardware wasn't so good, havining been a huge fan of Motorolla for years, but I'm quite impressed and happy with my VX5600 Accolade. If you want tech gadgets, trade your phone in. The real restriction isn't with LG and the phone, it's really with Verizon. I get the best deal with them, and they have reliable service, so I stick with it. Verizon wants to control everything and charge for every little piece of data. Make sure if you want to blame something/someone - don't blame the basic little Accolade, it's even technically capable; blame Verizon for wanting to choke the access and nickle and diming us. It's worth the trouble of mucking about with BitPim on those random photos I may catch of my 5yo, maybe some wildlife, or crazy wal-mart people (like my family mucking about in wal-mart)......
